I am currently a student at the Swanson School of Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh. I had originally enrolled not knowing what I wanted to specifically study, but after being exposed to the different domains of engineering and learning their specialties, I am becoming more and more interested in the field of Electrical Engineering. Over the summer, I had the opportunity to work at a local engineering company and experienced some of the basic demands the job would require.
I have always wanted to make a change. Throughout high school, I would tutor my peers and volunteer at local services. I felt as though my time should be spent helping others and making an impact if it was in my capabilities or else there was no motivation to try and improve myself.
Beside school, I have a string interest in dance and watching crime shows.I have danced for 15 years and now that I am in college, it seems strange that I am no longer on the stage all the time or in a studio for hours and condition with the same group I grew up with. When I was back home, dance was my outlet and I spend as much time as I could practicing. Now that I am away, I try to join the different groups, but there is nothing like the discipline of a dance school that is run by professionals.
Now I find myself spending a lot of my time binge watching Netflix. I have become the person I told myself I would not be. Unfortunately, crime shows are my kryptonite and I found a way to embed watching the shows while studying. Fortunately enough, I am able to balance my time and work continue to study hard even though I gave into my guilty pleasure. Hopefully I can continue balancing my engineering curriculum with the activities I enjoy doing as an outlet; that is my biggest fear.
